Maker Faire Projects 2021

Welcome to the CSSM Maker Faire. It is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.

Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

Maker Faire is primarily designed to be forward-looking, showcasing makers who are exploring new forms and new technologies. But it’s not just for the novel in technical fields; Maker Faire features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft.

The ideal Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. It’s a venue for makers to show examples of their work and interact with others about it. Many makers say they have no other place to share what they do. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) is often invisible in our communities, taking place in shops, garages and on kitchen tables. It’s typically out of the spotlight of traditional art or science or craft events. Maker Faire makes visible these projects and ideas that we don’t encounter every day.

CSSM has been part of this global movement for the last 3 years and we use their outputs for their peformance tasks to come up with projects.

Walking Rainbow Experiment

Fairy House

This is my Fairy House. I made it for the Maker-Faire 2021. It is made out of plastic bottles and homemade paper clay. The paper clay is made using newspaper and glue. I tore and soaked the newspaper in hot water then mixed glue with it to form clay

This is my little science experiment: The Walking Rainbow. I used plastic cups, water, food color and paper towels. It was amazing to see how water "walked" up the paper towels through a process called capillary action. It was like magic!

My Flying Kite

I like making crafts out of old things, example is my Flying Kite. I enjoyed making it, a little bit hard and challenging, but I still did it! I'm happy it is also working. Making my DIY Kite made me more creative and flying it made me test my patience until it works. I really enjoyed playing with my Kite.

Finger Bunny Puppets

This is our activity for the celebration of Maker-Faire. You can use this when you are doing storytelling or reciting a poem about bunnies. It's so fun! I made a video tutorial on how to make finger bunny puppets.

Make A Race Car

My do it yourself race car was easy and fun to make. The materials that I used were available at home and I can build it on my own by following the simple steps. Now, I can add it with my collection of cars.

Rock Photo Holder

I love making art especially drawing and painting. I had fun making my own photo holder. I will definitely display it in our room and add pictures of my family"

Rocky! The rock photo holder

I like making crafts, like rock photo holder. With some rocks, copper wire, beads and paint, you can have a standee of your favorite picture. It is challenging but at the same time it is fun and I enjoyed it a lot. I'll definitely make more to put my favorite pictures.

3 Way Conference Call

This is good because if one will speak using this project, two people can hear what the other person is saying. It is also very helpful as it can be a substitute to a telephone that you can use to talk to someone far away.

JCD ALCOHOL DISPENSER

I chose to make my JCD alcohol dispenser because it can help me and other people. They can use it so they cannot spread viruses to others. My JCD alcohol dispenser can be one of the ways to help lessen the rising number of COVID 19.

DIY UTENSILS ORGANIZER

You can make sure the items you need are always where they are supposed to be and easily within reach. And this best part is, they're stylish and budget-family too.

DIY MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

My homemade musical instrument is made up of recyclable materials and house stuff (ketchup bottles, water, spoon, food color). The bottles can be colorful and can have many bottles to have more tone range. This DIY musical bottle is easy and fun to play.

PANCAKE

My pancake is simple but fluffy. It's very easy for everyone to do it. Everyone will enjoy and taste the deliciousness of the pancake that I made.

COOKING

Cooking is really fun. I had an area at time making. The food I made was yummy.

THE RUBBER BAND POWERED CAR

My pancake is simple but fluffy. It's very easy for everyone to do it. Everyone will enjoy and taste the deliciousness of the pancake that I made.

When you wind up the car axle you stretch the rubber band and store potential energy. When you release it the rubber band starts to unwind. The potential energy is converted to kinetic energy as the car is propelled forward.

PAINTING

I am encouraged to do this artwork because I love mountains combined with rainbows. I made this painting to encourage other people to paint and to know that painting is not hard. I am encouraged to do the painting because now we are under lockdown, I want them to paint at their house if they are bored.

DIY Coin Sorting Machine

This project might be challenging and difficult but I had fun doing it and had discovered many possibilities. I also realize the value of applying correct measurement and dimensions to be able to create a successful sorting coin machine to understand the importance of Physics (Science) in our daily activity. Creating this project is relevant and interesting.

WATER FOUNTAIN

An explosion box is usually a greeting card where you remove the lid and reveals the things inside. The photo explosion box serves as a storage where you can keep your memorable photos.

I made this poster because it represents well my emotions and how I see the world; fun, playful and colorful. The rainbow represents our hope that every time a storm comes in, it gives us something to look forward to. Music is the go to of a lot of people whether they are happy or sad. They are a combination of story, emotions and sound - that is the reason why I choose guitar as an instrument.

It is a fountain, it's purpose is for decoration with dramatic effects.

Title: Rubber Band Airplane

My Rubber Band Airplane was designed and created that powered by a rubber band. The fuselage is composed of plastic straw with a rubber band inside that creates and releases energy to fly further and launch your plane. The wings and stabilizer are made of paper for lighter weight and create a lift. This will serve as a model design aircraft
structure, to promote the idea of aircraft construction. Plus, my airplane does not only have objectives for today; however, it also looks forward to the future, if only my model airplane will turn into reality. These are the following, TO CUT THE HIGH FEES – COST OF FLIGHT and GREEN POWER - Building an airplane in the future with no Jet fuel required, with clean and quiet motors with high technology concept using rubber band will help our mother nature.

Exquisite Beauty of Nature

The beauty of our surroundings is undoubtedly wonderful. From bikes, and interactions to trees, and sunsets.This is a film that shows how valuable and beautiful our nature can be, a sudden realization to see things in a different perspective.

A substitute for a webcam cover. It's easy to use and make, it also makes sure that you are protected from visual accidents and camera espionage, which results to a worry free and safe web browsing.

CHEESE OMELETTE TOAST

Skipping breakfast is slowly being normalized in the lives of many people due to several reasons such as running late for work, too lazy to cook meals, or not know how to cook at all. Cheese Omelette Toast is an easy 5-minute breakfast that can provide you rich nutrients and leave you with a satisfied stomach. t’s a light breakfast but it surely won’t deprive you of the necessary nutrients you need to start your productive day.

Popsicle Square Lamp shade

My maker fair product, Popsicle square Lampshade, was made up of popsicle sticks,
barbeque sticks, and papers. To light up my lampshade, I used battery-operated fairy
lights instead of a bulb, which makes it very convenient and affordable. This product can
be used as a decorative item inside a house that can help people to prevent irritation in
their eyes, also it can help people during a disaster, if there was a power outage, since
the lamp was battery-operated.

TIME

Time is a painting showing a hand holding a pocket watch. The hand represents death, while the watch represents life. The painting means that life is short, and we should always cherish the moments that we make before our time is over.
