In a heartfelt show of gratitude and commitment to uplifting the community, Cavite School of St. Mark (CSSM) proudly awarded a full high school scholarship to Mr. Eman Ortega, the top graduate of Habay Elementary School's Class of 2025.
Now on its second year, the partnership between CSSM and Habay Elementary School aims to provide deserving students with a brighter future by giving them access to quality secondary education.
This year, Mr. Ortega was selected based on two primary criteria: intellectual ability and financial need. Graduating with Highest Honors, he exemplified academic excellence and strong character, making him the ideal recipient of this life-changing opportunity.
The scholarship covers the entirety of Mr. Ortega’s educational expenses from Junior High School to Senior High School, including tuition fees, books, school uniforms, and even daily meals. CSSM believes that a student’s potential should never be hindered by economic hardship, and this initiative reflects the school’s deep appreciation for the blessings it continues to receive.
The awarding took place during Habay Elementary School’s Graduation Rites on April 14, 2025, a moment that made the milestone even more memorable for Mr. Ortega and his family. The scholarship was formally handed over by Mrs. Melanie Calicdan, School Principal, and Mr. Rodney Lictao, with Dr. Babylyn Pambid (DepEd OIC-Schools Division Superintendent) and Ms. Rosemarie Cubanbang (Principal of Habay Elementary School) serving as proud witnesses to this meaningful occasion.
This scholarship was an offshoot of CSSM founder Mrs. Janet Sarino-Garcia’s passion project, The Mobile Escuela—an outreach initiative designed to bring learning closer to communities. With this scholarship, that same vision is being brought to another level, offering not just access, but continuity and support for a promising student’s future.
"This is our simple way of giving back," shared Mrs. Calicdan. "We hope this scholarship opens doors for Eman and inspires other students to keep striving, no matter their circumstances."
CSSM remains committed to being a beacon of hope in the community—one student, one scholarship, one future at a time.
